PROGRAM THEME: Social Entrepreneurship for Africa’s Renewal

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

 

This Program in Mali focuses on social entrepreneurship as means of achieving community sustainability and economic development. Social entrepreneurship has its roots in Africa as pragmatic business communalism. This Program will explore social entrepreneurship as an innovative approach to facilitating economic activities that benefit the collective whole of society. Sub-themes will include:

 

1. African Communalism: Pragmatism and Harmonization
2. Business Communalism/Social Entrepreneurship: A Contemporary Business Paradigm
3. Social Justice and Social Entrepreneurship
4. Rural Social Entrepreneurship

 

Mali is one of the most stable political and social environments in Africa, allowing for the possibility to utilize creative economic solutions in the region. This program will explore how the use of social entrepreneurship can be beneficial to the country and how similar methods can be effective in other regions of Africa, as well as the world community. Particular attention will be given to rural development.
