PROGRAM THEME: Biodiversity & Environmental Consciousness

 

DESCRIPTION:

 

This Program in Tanzania focuses on the importance of sustaining the environment. Tanzania is one of the most ecologically diverse areas in the world. The goal of the Program is to explore all of the environmental challenges in the region and the benefit of conservation programs, like the Biodiversity Action Plan. Sub-themes will include:

 

1. Traditional African Spirituality and Conservation
2. Agroecology, Culture and Economy
3. Social Responsibility and the Environment
4. Conservation and Alternative Energy Sources

 

Participants will explore the elements of traditional African beliefs that relate to the environment and natural resources. Participants will also be exposed to Tanzania’s diverse animal and plant life. The program will emphasize the importance of the prudent use of Tanzania’s natural resources and how to balance consumption with efficient, clean production of energy. Participants will be exposed to traditional African beliefs concerning sustaining a healthy, clean earth for humankind and future generations.
